If you or someone you know is experiencing an ocular emergency please call our office at 510-521-2015 right away and our experienced staff will triage the situation and provide you with the appropriate instructions. Here at Alameda Optometric Group, we organize our schedule to accommodate patients with emergencies.
If the emergency occurs outside of our regular office hours, please call our office to get the number for the on-call doctor or contact your nearest emergency room.
Emergencies Can Happen Anywhere
Emergencies can happen whether you’re working in the garden, playing sports, or doing some household cleaning, and they can happen quickly. We’re prepared to help with a variety of eye emergencies, including:
- Physical trauma
- Chemical exposure
- Particle embedment
- Eye disease emergencies
- Eye Pain
- Sudden onset of flashes and/or floaters
- Sudden loss of vision
Certain eye diseases, like closed-angle glaucoma and wet macular degeneration, can cause sudden emergency symptoms like eye pain, redness, nausea, headaches, flashes and floaters, or even sudden vision loss.
For severe eye emergencies like cuts, punctures, or large object embedment, please contact your nearest emergency room.

Our practice is located in a converted house on the corner of Santa Clara Ave and Union Street. Street parking is available on either side of our practice. If you have any trouble finding us, give us a call. We can’t wait to see you!
